Closing costs, such as appraisal fees, processing fees, title-related fees, recording fees, and city, county, or state tax stamps, are a significant amount of cash often overlooked by buyers.   1. Homeowner Assistance Fund

If you鈥檙e facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, you may want to look into the , or HAF, a federal program to help people catch up on past-due mortgage payments and utility bills, and pay other housing costs, such as homeowners association fees or insurance. The benefits are offered by most states and vary by state, and in most states, the money from HAF is available as a grant, so you don鈥檛 have to pay it back.
